What is volumetric weight, and why does it matter?
Volumetric weight approximates how much space a package takes up (length × width × height ÷ a dimensional factor). Carriers charge on whichever is larger — actual or volumetric weight — because a light but bulky package still costs space to ship.
Where do I get the dimensional factor?
It depends on your carrier and shipping mode (air vs. ground) — check your carrier's published rate card.
